We are currently seeking qualified candidates to fill a Senior Accountant role in our Regulatory Reporting Department. This position will conduct or supervise the extraction of data from the data warehouse and general ledger to be used for the timely and accurate preparation and filing of various financial regulatory reports on a monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual basis. This position will also conduct or supervise the preparation of complex financial and regulatory data reports to ensure quality, accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”) and regulatory requirements, as well as Company policies and procedures. The position will participate in interpreting regulatory reporting requirements as well as any analysis and implementation of accounting, process, and regulatory changes. This position will also be required to research and monitor financial data to ensure data integrity.
Successful candidates applying to the position will be able to execute the following duties:
Conduct or supervise the production of organized documentation and detailed procedures timely in accordance with regulatory reporting instructions and in compliance with documented internal controls, standards and Company policies and procedures
Cross-train in the preparation and analysis of other government reports prepared on a more frequent basis
Maximize the use of automated technology to achieve the highest level of quality and efficiency in the preparation of regulatory reports
Conduct or supervise the preparation of financial and regulatory reports to ensure quality, accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with accounting principles and regulatory requirements
Conduct investigations of variance analysis independently and escalate issues to management appropriately
Ensure adherence to the Regulatory Reporting departmental standards, policies, and procedures
Recommend procedural changes/process improvement opportunities to streamline our processes and ensure the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the reporting process
Develop a strong knowledge of the Company’s systems and tools to utilize them effectively in report preparation
Respond timely to internal/external inquiries regarding financial data
Maintain a strong collaborative working relationships with the team and intercompany departments, such as Licensing and Compliance departments
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
At least 2 years of progressive experience in accounting or reporting roles
Accounting experience in a regulated entity environment is preferred
CPA or CPA candidate a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, and ability to access and process data
Exceptional communications skills, both oral and written
Familiarity with GAAP and financial statement preparation and analysis, and the ability to apply them appropriately within the organization
Ability to think, and work, independently resolving challenging issues under tight deadlines
