The Associate Director of Cybersecurity Resilience is responsible for business continuity, crisis management, and disaster recovery functions. These functions provide enterprise-wide recovery capabilities as well as response to events, incidents, and disruptions to operations affecting employees, customers, or other stakeholders. Establishes and maintains the recovery capabilities and tactical response plans in a ready state wherever business is conducted.

Essential Job Functions

  • Reviews and evaluates the Business Continuity and Resilience Policy, Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Program, and Crisis Management Program, ensuring they meet or exceed current regulatory guidance.

  • Develops and implements enhancements to the policies and programs whenever enhancements are warranted.

  • Develops and implements assessments of business recovery capability through business impact analyses (BIA’s).

  • Guides the development of business continuity plans (BCP’s), disaster recovery plans, and response plans in line with the overall Business Resilience strategy.

  • Manages disaster recovery program by planning, testing and reporting on DR exercises throughout each year.

  • Understands information technology operations, including hardware, software, redundancy, information security, incident response plans, and control environment.

  • Develops, on an annual basis, a Business Resilience Testing Strategy to align test scope and objectives.

  • Provides advice and guidance to executives and senior leaders on the tactics necessary to ensure adherence with recovery time objectives and recovery capabilities.

  • Maintains positive relationships with vendors and external partners required to support the business resilience efforts in a cost-effective manner.

  • Provides periodic reports and metrics about the resilience posture and any weaknesses or vulnerabilities.

  • Demonstrates leadership, resourcefulness, and ethical conduct in all interactions with colleagues, employees, and customers.

  • Undertakes special projects as may be requested from time-to-time by management and performs other duties as required.

  • Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of business resiliency and continuity planning practices and techniques, including the assessment of related risks (through the performance of business impact analyses).

  • Knowledge of risk assessment and management frameworks and principles.

  • Knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment.

  • Knowledge of internal control principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel data management techniques for analysis and reporting.

  • Strong verbal, written communications skills and presentation skills.

  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of management.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, analytical, initiative, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to operate and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment, with exacting deadlines.

Qualifications 

  • Demonstrated leadership across cybersecurity, business continuity, disaster recovery, or information technology teams.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of resilience and recovery strategies in complex organizations.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to effectively build relations and interact with stakeholders at all levels within the organization with proven success in building and developing strong relationships with business stakeholders. 

  • Proven experience in leading diverse teams made up of direct reports, indirect reports, consultants, and managed service providers is required. Experience leading geographically diverse teams is a plus.

  • Experience communicating with senior executives as well as technical and financial business colleagues. Master communicator and active listener who understands how to navigate an audience. 

  • Proven success delivering solutions to minimize our cyber risk for an enterprise

  • Prior experience working in a fast paced and flexible environment with many conflicting priorities. Experience prioritizing projects and staff time based on other commitments and risk is required.

  • 5+ years of work experience in business resilience, business continuity, crisis management and/or disaster recovery, preferably in a financial institution

  • Management or supervisory experience required.

  • Strong IT security or business continuity/disaster recovery support background.

  • Adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity, yet eager to understand the root cause of a challenge and drive a solution.  

  • Professional certification in a related discipline (i.e., Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP), Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI), CISSP, CISM or other relevant certifications) preferred.
