We are seeking an Associate Director of Engineering to lead the development and deployment of OMF’s next-generation document management platform. This platform will replace legacy systems using a strangulation pattern to gradually migrate functionality while maintaining operational continuity. The platform includes GraphQL APIs, a Document Management System (DMS)Camunda Orchestration, e-signature, and PDF Generation workstreams.
The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader with expertise in cloud-native architectures, SaaS integrations, and Agile practices. This role will focus on building scalable, secure, and high-performing systems aligned with OMF’s modernization goals.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Development and Modernization

  • Oversee the design and development of the GraphQL API layer, ensuring seamless integration with DMS and PDF Generation.
  • Manage the implementation of SaaS solutions for DMS, PDF generation tools and Clearing House Functionality.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Implement robust role-based access control (RBAC) and authentication using Okta.
  • Integrations with Enterprise Event Bus (Kafka), Open Telemetry, and Snowflake.

Strangulation Pattern for Migration

  • Collaborate with the legacy systems team to identify and isolate functionalities for migration to the new platform.
  • Gradually replace dependencies on legacy systems by redirecting functionality to the new platform in a phased approach.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to business operations during the migration process.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers across GraphQL, NestJS, Mongo, DMS, and PDF Generation workstreams, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Align team efforts with the strategic roadmap for modernization and scalability.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with product managers to define technical requirements and prioritize backlogs.
  • Act as the primary liaison between engineering teams and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs.

General Skills and Qualifications
Experience:

  • 8–10 years of engineering experience, with 3+ years in leadership roles building and deploying modern platforms.
  • Proven expertise in managing SaaS integrations and large-scale system migrations.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in TypeScriptGraphQL (Apollo)AWScontainerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and SaaS-based DMS and PDF solutions.
  • Expertise in modern software development methodologies, Agile practices, and DevOps pipelines.
  • Experience with security protocols and compliance, including Okta integration for authentication and role-based access control.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
