Additionally, you will serve as a subject matter expert to both internal and external customers, fostering a collaborative environment. Compliance, decision-making, and accuracy are crucial when making SCRA determinations to reduce and protect OneMain’s regulatory and reputational risk.
In the Role
- As a Specialist with the Military Family Support Team (MFS), you will assist customers with requests for Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act (SCRA) protections and benefits across all product lines company wide. Positive, motivated, and self-driven.
- This includes reviewing military orders, utilizing the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC), and ensuring compliance with SCRA federal and state laws.
- Reviews may span multiple servicing systems and involve simultaneous review of multiple accounts held by the same customer. Willing to listen and learn, building competencies and skills to advance in your role and career.
- Periodic reviews throughout the servicemember’s active duty period will determine ongoing eligibility. Accurately perform data entry, research, and documentation to ensure each SCRA review is completed with a high level of attention to detail.
- Request accurate and complete account-level adjustments to grant or remove State and Federal SCRA benefits, ensuring timely completion based on service level agreements. Educate internal business partners on company policies regarding SCRA.
- Prepare, investigate, and process requests from customers applying for SCRA benefits.
- Validate receipt of military documentation, including active-duty orders, enlistment documentation, and correspondence from commanding officers.
- Determine acceptability of active-duty documents and eligibility based on state-specific requirements and SCRA laws.
- Enter data in multiple systems of record, use Outlook, Teams, and other Microsoft products daily.
- Monitor accounts to ensure all required changes or adjustments are complete and accurate.
- Regularly monitor and review SCRA account activity and follow up with customers when orders are near expiration to determine continued eligibility.
Requirements
- Willing to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
- High School diploma/GED required.
- 3 years of customer service experience
- 3 years of Call Center or Production environment experience
- 3 years experience working in financial industry
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Experience in legal documentation content preferred, but not required
- Strong phone and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under aggressive deadlines, while supporting the achievement of both individual and team level goals.
Preferred:
- Military experience and/or SCRA knowledge
- Associate degree preferred
