Lead Engineer - Software
Location: Fort Mill, SC
Work You’ll Do
As part of a demonstrated commitment, we are investing in digital innovation, emerging products, and new ways to help our customers with their financial wellbeing. This role is on our industry leading credit cards platform.
We are looking for a Lead Engineer to join our team. You will work with our product, design, and engineering teams to plan, design, and develop customer facing applications for credit cards. What you'll do:
- Perform complex application programming activities on IBMi, using COBOL, RPGLE, & SQLRPGLE
 - Lead the definition of system architecture and detailed solution design that are scalable and extensible
 - Collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, and other engineers on different permutations to find the best solution possible
 - Own the quality of code and do your own testing. Automate feature testing and contribute UI testing framework
 - Become a subject matter expert for our mobile applications backend and middleware
 - Deliver amazing solutions to production that knock everyone’s socks off
 - Mentor junior developers on the team
 - Provide assistance to technical team as needed
 - Assist in interviewing and building out technical team
 - Suggest improvements to optimize delivery

Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum B.S. / M.S. Computer Science or related discipline from accredited college or University
 - 5-7+ years programming IBMi technology using COBOL, RPGLE, & SQLRPGLE
 - 3 or more years of progressive responsibility as an engineer on development teams directly responsible for building and delivering software-intensive systems.
 - Complete SDLC Project Knowledge
 - Experience delivering customer-facing legacy applications in IBMi Cobol
 - Knowledge of iSeries API's, Data queues, User queues, multithreading, Journaling and IBM iSeries file systems such as Library based system etc
 - Proficient in building and consuming RESTful APIs
 - Proficient in managing multiple tasks and consistently meet established timelines
 - Experience integrating APIs with front-end and/or mobile-specific frameworks
 - Strong collaboration skills
 - Excellent written and verbal communications skills
 
Preferred Qualifications:
- Financial Services experience and Credit Card experience a big plus.
 - Exposure to principles of planning, organizational change management, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and team coordination.
 - Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
 - Familiarity with modern software development methodologies and tools.
 - Lead the definition of system architecture and detailed solution design that are scalable and extensible
 - Collaborate with cross functional team and other engineers/developers on different permutations to find the best solution possible
 - Lead a project/program from initiation to delivery and warranty.
 - Flexible and willing to accept change in priorities, multitask as necessary
