Staff Engineer - Platform Architect
Location: West Valley City, UT
OneMain Financial is seeking Staff Engineer – Platform Architect to shape and enhance the architecture and delivery of our core lending platforms, including our proprietary Loan Origination System (LOS), Loan Servicing System (LSS), and multiple high-traffic web properties. This position is based on-site in West Valley City, UT.
This is a critical leadership role within the technology organization. The successful candidate will own system design and implementation across platforms that power key customer interactions and enterprise-wide financial services. This engineer will lead by example—mentoring peers, partnering with product teams, and collaborating cross-functionally with Legal, Accounting, Finance, Credit, and Marketing leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture and technical delivery of key systems including LOS, LSS, and major customer-facing applications (e.g., omfauto.com, foursight.com, rateworks.com).
- Act as technical authority across domains—ensuring scalable design, reusable patterns, and adherence to secure development practices.
- Lead the design and implementation of APIs, middleware services, and integrations with third-party tools such as Twilio Flex.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, architectural discussions, and hands-on pairing.
- Identify and implement automation and continuous integration strategies to improve development velocity and quality.
- Propose and lead technical initiatives that modernize legacy systems and improve scalability.
- Proactively mitigate operational risk by anticipating infrastructure or application-level issues.
What Sets You Apart
- 6-8 years of experience with increasing responsibility, including architecting mission-critical applications in .NET.
- Deep fluency in C#, .NET Framework, and T-SQL—with the ability to design robust, performant backend systems.
- Experience designing distributed systems using SOA principles and multi-tier architectures.
- Expertise in WPF/XAML, LINQ, MVVM, and WebAPI development, with exposure to modern frameworks like React and Angular.
- Proficiency in API development and integration (REST, JSON, XML) and internal service orchestration.
- Ability to communicate architectural decisions clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong grasp of Agile delivery and DevOps principles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience mentoring developers and championing clean code, reusability, and modern architectural patterns.
