Instructional Designer Sr
The Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for creating engaging and effective learning experiences. They work closely with subject matter experts throughout the company to design and develop instructional materials that meet the needs of our learners. This role requires a strong understanding of instructional design principles, as well as the ability to apply these principles to a variety of learning formats.
In the Role
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify learning objectives and content requirements.
- Perform needs analysis, analyze data, and recommend creative solutions for performance improvement.
- Identify alternative learning solutions based on existing conditions including effectiveness, quality, and cost/benefit analysis for each alternative solution.
- Design and develop instructional materials, instructor-led training, job aids, videos, simulations, and e-learning modules.
- Manage own projects to completion while monitoring and addressing any issues or risks that develop. Ensure all agreed upon deliverables and milestone dates are met.
- Follow quality review processes per work standards to ensure a high-quality training solution is deployed.
- Lead the design and development of more complex and higher visibility instructional projects.
- Analyze complex business problems and recommend effective solutions for performance improvement, addressing knowledge and skill gaps.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior instructional designers.
- Develop scenario-based learning experiences that mirror real-world system usage and business processes.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvement.
- Actively research learning trends and innovative learning solutions; share insights with team and management to increase learning effectiveness.
- Provide vision in the integration of instructional technologies for online, virtual, hybrid and classroom programs.
- Collaborate on effective learning assessment and measurement approaches to validate learning solution within targeted projects.
- Review training content developed by other instructional designers and provide feedback based on work standards.
- Stay current on effective design concepts and learning technology and prepare recommendations for Training Data & Design Team
Requirements
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, HR, Education or related field.
- Proficiency in Experience API (xAPI) for tracking and reporting learning data required.
- 4+ years’ experience in instructional design and/or curriculum development.
- Demonstrated project management skills and ability to manage multiple training content develop projects simultaneously.
- Well-versed in current trends and best practices in adult learning.
- Extensive use of ADDIE and/or SAM instructional design models.
- Demonstrated understanding of ADDIE model, emerging adult learning practices and evaluation.
- Proficiency developing and updating training such as instructor led, virtual sessions and e-learning and job aids with a variety of design software.
- Demonstrated ability to perform video and audio editing.
- Excellent research skills with ability to translate information into interactive content, using technology that enables behavioral change; shares knowledge gained with others.
- Demonstrated understanding of business operations and learning curricula.
Preferred
- Master's degree in related field
