Position
We are seeking a strategic and execution-oriented finance leader to support our Technology organization as Director, Strategic Finance - Technology.
This role operates at the intersection of Strategic Finance, FinOps, and Business Operations, ensuring that technology investments are prioritized, efficient, and tightly aligned to business outcomes.
You will partner directly with Technology, Product, and Finance leadership to drive better decisions across one of the company’s largest and most complex areas of spend.
Position Summary
The Director, Technology Finance & FinOps is responsible for maximizing the value of the company’s technology investments through strategic financial planning, investment analysis, cloud financial operations, and business partnership. This leader serves as the primary financial advisor to technology leadership and helps drive informed decisions across technology portfolios, infrastructure, cloud, software, and strategic initiatives.
The role combines traditional strategic finance capabilities with FinOps practices to improve cost transparency, optimize spending, and ensure technology investments deliver measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Investment Management
Develop business cases, ROI analyses, and total cost of ownership models for technology initiatives.
Partner with technology leaders to prioritize investments and allocate resources across competing opportunities.
Evaluate build-versus-buy decisions, vendor selections, and transformation programs.
Monitor realization of expected benefits and investment returns.
Financial Planning and Decision Support
Lead forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning for technology spend.
Provide scenario analysis and recommendations to support executive decision-making.
Deliver executive-level presentations and insights to senior leadership.
Establish KPIs and performance metrics to measure technology value creation.
FinOps and Technology Cost Management
Drive cloud financial management practices and cost optimization initiatives.
Develop cost transparency frameworks, including showback and chargeback methodologies.
Monitor cloud, infrastructure, and software spend and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
Partner with engineering and architecture teams to align technical decisions with financial outcomes.
Vendor and Portfolio Management
Support software and infrastructure vendor negotiations through financial analysis.
Assess utilization, consumption trends, and technology economics.
Manage technology portfolio reporting and investment governance processes.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, FinOps, technology business management, consulting, or related fields.
Strong financial modeling and business case development capabilities.
Experience supporting technology organizations and partnering with engineering leaders.
Knowledge of cloud economics and FinOps principles.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business insights.
Experience with tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Cloudability, Apptio, Power BI, Snowflake, or similar platforms preferred.
Excellent executive communication and presentation skills.

Location: New York City, NY –In office (Tues-Thurs)
Target base salary range is $220,000-240,000 annually, which is based on various factors including skills and work experience. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a competitive additional compensation program that is based on individual and company performance.
